Transforming a historic home in Lambertville, New Jersey, our high-end residential landscape design-build project blended luxury and functionality. Situated on an expansive lot, our clients acquired a century-old home with an existing pool and cabana. However, during the design process, we identified structural issues with the pool walls, prompting a meticulous rebuild seamlessly integrated into the overall project.
Addressing the scattered and disjointed landscape surrounding the property, our initial focus was crafting a comprehensive property master plan. We strategically removed an imposing hemlock tree on the south side, making space for an elegant bluestone patio and a captivating stone water feature visible from the kitchen and outdoor porch. By carefully adjusting the porch railing, we created new steps for a seamless transition to the patio.
At the front entrance, we transformed busy plant groupings and mismatched hardscape elements, introducing a sense of architectural harmony. Flanking the front door, two Green Japanese Maples, emerging from a bed of pachysandra, provide a striking anchor. Climbing roses delicately soften the home’s corners, enhancing its overall appeal.
Strategic landscape enhancements continued with the relocation of existing crêpe myrtles to optimize the main entrance’s aesthetics. A continuous bed of decorative gravel now graces the space between the sidewalk and the front door, while vibrant liriope replaced the mundane strip of grass along the sidewalk and the street.
To the side of the front entrance, we meticulously designed a captivating knot garden, ensuring visual interest both from the street and the side porch. Our transformative landscape design not only addresses structural concerns but elevates the property’s aesthetic cohesiveness, offering a unique blend of luxury and natural beauty.
