To Stitch or not to Stitch: Should You Wrap Your Shrubs in Burlap

Gardening

Depending on who you believe, the benefits of wrapping your valuable plants and shrubs in burlap for the winter may be considered either essential or largely frivolous. Essential perhaps in the fact that burlap can protect certain plant types (especially glossy leaved evergreens like Boxwood) from wind damage and snow load, and frivolous in that the burlap may actually produce a micro climate within the enclosure, coaxing the plant out of dormancy on a warm winters day.

No matter which camp you fall into, these finely stitched collection of cubes, spheres and triangles bring a bit of artful drama (especially when coated with a dusting of snow), to an otherwise grey winter landscape.
